2010 Western Regional Championships in review
The Mens Championship 25+ division semi-final provided for some great hockey action in a close match between Simms Contracting and
Firebird, with Simms edging out Firebird only after some great effort to advance to the final.
The Lady Stanleys, who were a dominant force throughout the women's event in 2009, played the Kootenay Wild Things in a re-match for the Women's Championship. The Kootenay Wildthings proved too much for the Lady Stanley's this year and took the Women's division title. We look forward to next year as this rivalry continues.
The Men's Recreational Division Championship was an old fashioned nail bitter. The Tightie Whities faced off against Lifeworks and at the end of regulation play the score was tied 20 a piece. The game remained tied after the first overtime period, with Lifeworks reining victorious after scoring the first goal in the sudden death overtime period which followed.
The Men's Championship 25+ division final was a great game and a real crowd pleaser. Simms Contracting battled it out against last years semi-finalists, the Benson Oilers with the Oilers ultimately winning the match and the 2010 title.
